When Facebook attacks! Is Facebook or other social networking sites destroying your marriage or relationship?

A study carried out for a divorce website claims Facebook was named in at least 20 percent of divorce petitions in the US last year. And the most common reason is spouses engaging in saucy sex chat with their online "friends". Other social networking sites, including MySpace, Bebo and Twitter, also featured heavily in the sample of 5,000 divorce papers studied. It appears many people are having inappropriate chats with people they were not supposed to. There are many in America who are now saying that Facebook and other social networking sites can be“hazardous to marriages and relationships.” Facebook is so popular that it now boasts that it has 200 million unique worldwide visitors!
Have you or your partner gone Facebook crazy? Or is it Myspace, Tagged or Twitter crazy? Is your significant other sleeping with their computer or updating their status while using the restroom? What if your partner’s Facebook friends are people they went to high school, college, or grad school with? What if your partner realizes from looking at one of their friend’s pictures that so-and-so from way back when is attractive now and decides to ditch you to pursue him/her instead? Do we need to establish some guidelines to monitor our use of online social networking sites? What should those guidelines be? Should you police who your partner communicates with on or off-line? The social networking site Facebook has done wonders to connect old friends, but it's also becoming a source of trouble for more and more couples. Where has the intimacy gone in our relationships? Do men really view women like pieces of chicken?
God willing, the Brother Marcus Show will return this weekend on Sunday January 10, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. (EST) with another deep show! Despite the raw attitudes espoused in this so called culture today, many people are saying in 2010 what they really want is an intimate love relationship. But all we have to do is turn on our local radio stations and we will hear explicit songs and lyrics about sex and how today's men and women supposedly want it. R & B Superstar, Usher, recently sang that he wanted to make love in the club. Another Superstar sings that after getting with him in a bedroom some poor deluded woman will think that he has invented sex. And of course the number one soul singer, Beyonce, entices all the men on her latest video singing about a video phone I think. I really didn’t catch the words! Most of the sexually charged music today seems to suggest that the people like their relationships like they like their fast food, “Fast and hot with no strings attached.”
This week the Brother Marcus Show will explore just what in the world is intimacy? Is there really such a thing as romance and intimacy in 2010 or are those just things of the past? Is this all the man’s fault or do women share some of the blame? "Do men really view women like pieces of chicken? i.e. A man might say something like 'I'm a breast man or a leg man'. Are men really “empty emotionally” or do women just not understand how men think in today’s times? Join us as we welcome our guest panelist for the evening, Ebony S. Muhammad, Certified Thanatologist, who has recently published, “The Black Male Perspective on Intimacy.” We intend to have a very spirited discussion on the fundamentally different way men and women view sex, intimacy and love.
